Inhalers by Devlyn Kornegay
These are the designs for the inhaler and spacer for D. by Industrial Designer, Devlyn Kornegay. D is an amazing queer, biracial person with asthma issues. She often feels uncomfortable using her inhaler in public, and she hates the bulky design, lack of means to carry the items, and that the caps fall off so easily in her purse and collect debris in the mouthpiece.
I am looking into 3D printing this design. After which, I will design vinyl stickers that will decorate the inhaler and spacer. These vinyls will be based on D’s father, appreciation of her ancestors, style choices, and “This Little Light of Mine,” a song that is of personal significance to D.
I am concerned this design will be too expensive or complicated to print. If this is the case I will head back to the drawing board and design the vinyls for D’s existing inhaler and spacer set up, as well as a tether or clip that allows D to hook the inhaler onto a belt loop, and a rubber strap that will hold the inhaler cap onto the inhaler. I have some designs in mind and believe, if necessary, I can make these additions during January.
